Oh and Dante is the best party member and TDE the best.If you know how I can deal with these problems, you know a remedy for them, etc. And considering that Atlus sales constantly happen and the game drops to $5, youвЂ™re getting one of the best JRPGs ever at that price.

This is definitely in my top 2 of PS2 JRPGs, only behind Xenosaga Episode III and it gets a highly recommended must play for any Megaten fan, or fans of JRPGs in general. This LttP is running a little long and I could keep going about how great Nocturne is, but IвЂ™m sure you get it by now. And if you donвЂ™t rotate your saves frequently, you can get really screwed at that point. I also was really annoyed by the design decision to have White Rider attack you the second you finish the second amala and try to leave, even before you can fuse other demons, buy items, or even heal. Frame drops during attacks in 5+ enemy battles got a little jarring, to the point where it looked like the game froze for a second.

The only problems I had with Nocturne were that the PS3 port was.not great. Describing the music wonвЂ™t do it words, so hereвЂ™s some of my favorite songs from the OST.ДЄnd there is so much more I could link, but this game definitely lives up to the high standards of Megaten music more than almost any other Megaten game. Meguro knocked it out of the park with this soundtrack (though I still like DDS slightly more).

Though when it comes to sound, the star of this show is the music which is fantastic. Physical hits (especially crits) sound great and make the hits feel really satisfying. While the game itself doesnвЂ™t have any voice acting, the sound effects in battle are all well done. The sound design in this game is also great. Demi-Fiend in particular has to be one of the best designed protagonists IвЂ™ve ever seen. The demon designs are all great and made a very good transition to 3D, and the characters also look really good. Kaneko really knocked it out of the part with his designs, and Kaneko 3D models are by far my favorite artstyle in the Megaten universe. And the craziest part about it is that it is completely optional (though you should totally do it for story reasons). And speaking of the dungeon design, words cannot do justice to describe how well made the dungeons in this game are, especially the Labyrinth of Amala, which has to be one of, if not, the greatest dungeon in any JRPG.

The fact that you can fuse different fiends during the new, half, full moon cycle, the fact that you can sacrifice a demon during fusion when the moon is full, the moon being full increasing the chance of fusion mutation, and the ways they implemented the lunar phase into the dungeon design is amazing. The uses of the lunar phase in this game blew my mind. The amount of mechanics and the hidden details in this game is amazing. Almost everything about this game feels so crafted with quality that I was blown away by so much of it. The amount of thought put into every detail in this game, the story, level design, game design, battles, sound design, art, fusing, mechanics, dungeon design, pacing, etc. IвЂ™ve heard a lot of overwhelming positive things about this game, and IвЂ™m not really one to buy into other peopleвЂ™s hype, but I honestly was not expecting the game to be this good. With my anticipation for Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker getting the best of me in the winter, and with a friend of mine telling me how great it was, I finally decided it was time to play the first SMT game localized in the west, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. I played stuff like Devil Survivor: Overclocked, early Persona games, Digital Devil Saga, etc. Ever since I played my first Megaten game (besides Persona) SMT4, I was hooked to this Atlus franchise.
